NICK NOONAN

‘Japanese & Colour Realism’

When a person loves what they do, that passion is conveyed through their work. A fervent and sincere quality, the result of the many hours, days and years of honing their skills to create a true craft of dedication. It is my belief that you can see all those attributes within a well shaped piece of art.

At 18 years old I started my first tattooing apprenticeship, at a "walk in" studio based in central Christchurch. I was able to build a well rounded knowledge base of different styles of tattooing for my first few years, then quickly became influenced by Japanese art and begun to concentrate on the style.

After a number of years I moved to Left Hand Path Tattoos, also in Christchurch, and began focusing and specialising in realism.

Currently I am working at my own studio, Magna Tattoo, based in Central Christchurch City. I have spent my recent years merging my skills of Japanese and realism techniques together, to create a distinct and unique look in my tattoos. Lately I have invested a lot of time into large scale colour realism which I have especially enjoyed.

My career has taught me many lessons I use in my everyday life, with tattooing empowering me to become a more outgoing person. I’m constantly looking for challenge and really enjoy technical tattooing, with a split love between Japanese and realism styles. I definitely have a preference for large scale projects!

With my clients I will always be honest, this at times requires a somewhat ‘blunt’ but necessary stance when communicating with you, as we are both aiming towards the very best work I can possibly do. The more creative freedom that is granted to me, the better I can play to my strengths, while incorporating my clients wishes and ideas.

Thanks so much everyone for all your support of my work, for anyone wanting to know more please reach out, I’m always more than happy to answer any questions.

Cheers, Nick
